The Important Project of Common European Interest on batteries is a two-part IPCEI implemented to promote battery production. They are transnational projects with an important contribution to the growth, employment and competitiveness of the European Union industry and economy funded by state aid. The French Electrochemical Energy Storage network (RS2E) is a French research and technology transfer network dedicated to various energy storage devices: rechargeable batteries, supercapacitors and alternative technologies for a wide range of uses (electric vehicles, portable electronics, storage of electricity from renewable sources). RS2E is a CNRS network created with the support of the French Ministry of Education and Research.
Created in 2011, RS2E has since been coordinated by CNRS Gold Medalist Professor Jean-Marie Tarascon (Collège de France, Paris) and Professor Patrice Simon (Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse), internationally recognized specialists in electrochemical energy storage.
