For nearly 30 years, Batteries Event has brought together the key players of the global battery ecosystem: manufacturers, OEMs, gigafactories, researchers, investors, institutions, technology providers and public decision-makers.

As Europe enters a decisive decade for electrification, energy sovereignty and industrial transformation, innovation has become a strategic priority across the entire battery and energy storage value chain.

The Batteries Event European Startup Award™ was created to identify, support and showcase the next generation of European battery and energy storage champions.

More than an award, the initiative aims to become a major European platform connecting startups, industry leaders, investors and innovation partners across the battery and energy storage ecosystem.

Selected startups will gain direct exposure to Europe’s leading industrial players, OEMs, gigafactories, investors, R&D centers, institutional representatives and innovation stakeholders attending Batteries Event Lyon 2026 – creating unique opportunities for visibility, strategic partnerships, business development and industrial collaboration.

Held at the heart of Batteries Event Lyon 2026, the award will highlight breakthrough technologies, accelerate industrial collaborations and create new business opportunities for Europe’s most promising startups.

The 25 selected startups will join the Startup Village, a dedicated innovation area located at the heart of the exhibition and event experience[CP2.1].
Startups will benefit from premium visibility before, during and after the event through:

• Ecosystem and media visibility,

The award is designed to foster high-value connections and concrete industrial opportunities across the European battery ecosystem.
Participating startups will have the opportunity to engage with industrial leaders, investors and innovation partners to explore strategic partnerships, pilot projects, open innovation collaborations, customer opportunities and European scale-up acceleration.

A European Award for High-Potential Startups witn an European Dimension

The Batteries Event European Startup Award is open to high-potential startups developing innovative technologies, products or industrial solutions related to batteries, energy storage and electrification.

The initiative supports scalable innovation contributing to the future competitiveness of Europe’s battery ecosystem.

Applications are open to startups with activities or a strong footprint in Europe, including companies from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, as well as selected international startups with a significant European presence.

The award is open to innovations across the entire battery and energy storage value chain – including technologies, materials, manufacturing, recycling, digital and AI solutions, industrial services, engineering, software platforms and breakthrough “out-of-the-box” innovations contributing to the future of electrification and industrial transformation.

1 – APPLY
Submit a short application presenting your company, innovation, vision and industrial ambition.
Each applicant will receive the Startup Application Guidelines, designed to help startups highlight their key strengths, innovation value and development potential.

2 – GET SHORTLISTED
An international jury of industry leaders and innovation experts will select up to 25 startups.

3 – JOIN THE STARTUP VILLAGE
Selected startups will showcase their innovation at the heart of Batteries Event Lyon 2026 and connect directly with industry leaders, investors and ecosystem decision-makers.

The Startup Village will be a dedicated innovation hub located at the center of Batteries Event Lyon.

Only 25 startups will be selected to join this exclusive area designed to maximize visibility, networking and business interactions.

The Startup Village will become:
• A showcase for breakthrough technologies,
• A meeting point between startups and industry leaders,
• A networking and business acceleration platform,
• A discovery area for investors and innovation partners,
• A high-visibility innovation experience.

SELECTED STARTUP PACKAGE
Participation in the application and selection process is completely free of charge.

Only startups officially selected to join the Startup Village at Batteries Event Lyon 2026 will be invited to confirm their participation through a dedicated startup package.

SELECTED STARTUP PARTICIPATION PACKAGE: €2,100 EXCL. VAT

The package includes:
• Startup Village participation,
• Dedicated startup exhibition space,
• Visibility before and during the event,
• Networking access,
• Communication exposure,
• One FULL ACCESS 3-day event pass + 1 Exhibition 3-day pass

The objective is to provide selected startups with a high-value European business and visibility platform while maintaining an accessible participation model for innovative companies.

Detailed participation information will be shared with shortlisted startups during the selection process.

An international jury composed of 6 recognized leaders from the battery and energy storage ecosystem will oversee the selection process. The jury will include one representative from Batteries Event alongside 5 experts representing the full battery value chain – from industry and manufacturing to innovation, investment and ecosystem development.

Jury members will be officially announced in the coming weeks.
